Chinese New Year in Heiwa Koen, Shizuoka

Heiwa-Koen in Gotenba is usually a very quiet temple known for the view of Mt. Fuji and its Cherry Blossoms.

However, during Chinese New Year, so many Chinese people visit this temple.

February 3, 2011 is the Chinese New Year, which is the biggest vacation for Chinese people.
Many of sightseeing spots in Japan expect Chinese visitors to come and spend their money in their town.
Local government, shops, and mass media make all possible effort to attract Chinese people

 <Guide Memo>

Yumomi in Kusatsu, Gunma

Kusatsu Onsen is a wonderful hot spring resort located 2 hours and a half away from Tokyo.
It has high quality and generous amounts of water.
The quality of Kusatsu Onsen's water,100% natural spring water, has been widely recognized since ancient times.
I think that Kusatsu hot springs has the best quality out of 3000 hot springs in Japan.
It is absolutely my favorite place.

↑Yumomi is a traditional method in Kusatsu to cool down hot spring water to bathing temperature by stirring the water with large wooden paddles. The process is accompanied by the singing of a local folk song.

↑A yumomi performance incluing dances and songs for tourists is held daily at the center of Kusatsu town.

↑Many tourists enjoy a such unique custom of Kusatsu.

After the performance, it's your turn next !

<Guide Memo>
